New Cadence Incisive Enterprise Technology Eases Creation of Verification Scenarios

Inspired by Video and Audio Composition Software’s Ease of Use, Incisive Enterprise
Scenario Builder Enables Designers to Assist in Advanced Verification

SAN JOSE, Calif. – April 24, 2006 – Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:
CDNS) today extended the Incisive Enterprise Family of verification technology by
releasing the Cadence® Incisive® Enterprise Scenario Builder, an innovative new
technology that boosts team resource utilization and productivity by enabling designers to
become highly productive in advanced verification. Designers can compose multichannel
verification scenarios without a deep understanding of object-oriented
programming or coverage-driven verification environments created by verification
specialists.

With the Incisive Enterprise Scenario Builder, multi-specialist teams developing
large system-on-chips (SoCs) can empower designers to play a significant role in the
advanced verification process. The product’s innovative natural visualization of the
verification environment enables designers, as well as dedicated verification engineers, to
create realistic chip-level scenarios in a matter of hours instead of days.

Scenario Builder was inspired by consumer video editing and audio composition
software, which enable computer users to easily create polished video and musical
compositions without extensive technical training. Scenario Builder uses an intuitive
drag-and-drop library and template-based graphical user interface. Scenarios or
sequences can be defined and altered throughout verification, and the sequences can be
mixed across interfaces in unique combinations to create complex chip-level scenarios
for verification.

“With Scenario Builder our logic designers will now be able to create advanced
test cases and reusable sequences with no lengthy training on verification languages and
techniques,” said Assaf Avraham, director of VLSI at Ceva, Inc.

Scenario Builder automatically extracts from an advanced verification
environment, including verification intellectual property (VIP), the information needed to
present an abstracted visualization of the environment and its sequence building blocks.
This can eliminate the need to read thousands of lines of source code. Scenario Builder
also facilitates VIP reuse through the easy construction of reusable sequence libraries.

“Not only is Scenario Builder a tremendous productivity enhancer, but it
significantly facilitates VIP-based verification process automation by providing a userfriendly
and language-agnostic interface foundation,” said Ann Germany, director of
Strategic Marketing at Globetech Solutions.

“Incisive Enterprise Scenario Builder is another example of the kind of innovation
Cadence is bringing the industry in functional verification,” said Steve Glaser, vice
president of Marketing with the Cadence Verification Division. “We have a unique focus
on building verification process automation solutions for multi-specialist SoC and system
development teams from plan to closure. Scenario Builder, along with our recently
announced Incisive Plan-to-Closure Methodology and the Incisive Plan- to-Closure
Knowledge System, provides the broad expertise needed to boost the productivity,
quality and predictability of complete programs and products.”
